Europe’s City Gems   [Report Abuse]

Posted by: berapa-harga
Europe provides a rich playground for the discerning traveller, with a vast number of countries in close proximity to each other offering a diverse range of rich cultures and histories.
Some cities spring to mind easily, Berlin, London, Paris and Rome for example, all for good reason. However there are plenty of equally fabulous cities that you might not be so familiar with that are worth visiting just as much, if not more.
Here we list the top 5 lesser-known gems:
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Opposite the Italian coast on the Adriatic, lies another sun-drenched, beautiful country, that of Croatia. Post civil war, it has now burgeoned into one of Europe's most desirable holiday destinations. Most notable is the city of Dubrovnik. Housed within stunning medieval walls lies an abundance of old world charm and atmosphere. Many cafes and shops adorn the main street, Placa, and there's even a sandy beach for sun seekers.
Krakow, Poland
Steeped in history in culture, this is an up and coming destination for those in the know. As well as providing an ideal base for visiting the museum site of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Krakow itself is full of things to do and see. Simply wander around, soak up the historic architecture and visit the swathe of cafes. There are also numerous museums and plenty of art galleries to visit. Krakow is very much a city in love with art – be sure not to miss the exceptional Gallery of the Twentieth Century Polish Art.  Image By: e guide travel
Riga, Latvia
Another picturesque Eastern European city - but without the unwelcome abundance of hen and stag parties you might find in similar cities like Prague. 800 year old cobbled streets are a joy to meander through, and be sure to visit the city's many churches and marvel at their world renowned architecture. Riga's nightlife is not to be missed either, with many bars offering a cool and relaxed vibe – perfect after a day of sightseeing.
Edinburgh, Scotland
Although you can't rely on its weather, Edinburgh is a must-see for culture vultures and lovers of architecture. Take in the view of the city from the famous ‘Arthur's seat', the main peak of Holyrood Park, and from there head into the famous city centre crowned by Edinburgh castle. If you're able to, head to the city during August for its yearly festival; a huge international showcase of comedy, theatre, and musical performances.
Copenhagen, Denmark
A lot of people are aware of Copenhagen, but it often slips off the radar when it comes to visiting European cities. Avoid the crowds heading to more well-travelled Venice or Rome, this is a place for a less obvious romantic break. This beautiful, historic and and decidedly quirky town is also home to the world's current top restaurant, Noma, focusing on natural ingredients sourced from the wilderness.
